Cerberus Preferences
Cerberus has two preference windows. The first one contains general settings that apply to the application. The second one contains settings for each individual webcam on the system.

Email Warnings
These options allow you to configure the way Cerberus will send you warning emails.
Enable Email Warnings
Allow Cerberus to send emails.
Send To
Email address to send warning messages to.
Email (SMTP) Host
Host name or IP address of email server.
Username
Username for email server.
Password
Password for email server.
Available Warnings
Motion Detection - Sends an email with attached image.
General
Language
Alter the language for all Cerberus text (except for Help files). The default is English. The language files are located in the "<cerberus install directory>\languages" directory have a .lex extension. The files can be edited using any standard editor (such as notepad). Feel free to email your language files for inclusion in new versions and for distribution on the Cerberus website.
Clear Language History
Clear the complete history of saved/captured images for all cameras.
Instant Grab
These settings are used with the button on the WebCam control. This button takes an instant capture from the webcam. Using these preferences you can decide what happens to the captured image.
The saved image has a filename with the format yyyyddmm_hhmmss.jpg. The capture file is saved within the specified directory in to a directory with the same name as the webcam. ie. c:\cerberus\captures\mywebcamA
Copy to clipboard
Copy the image to the clipboard.
Add text overlays
If this is ticked then the settings for the text overlays for this camera will be used. Default is no.
Add graphic overlays
If this is ticked then the settings for the image overlays for this camera will be used. Default is no.
Log File (for information on what triggers a log event, click here)
Generate Log File
Toggles whether the application saves all log enteries to a file. Default is off.
Log File File Name
The file name to use when saving out the log file.
Motion Detection (see the Webcam preferences for Motion Detection)
* Motion Detection cannot be used with the Timer
Save to Location
Location for images that are captured during motion detection mode.
Motion detection scan rate (in frames per second) (default is 3fps)
The rate at which images are scanned for motion, the higher the value the better the chance of detecting fast moving objects, but the more CPU power will be required. Trial and error in picking the correct value is required. Bare in mind that a fast object might be able to go across the field of view of your webcam in between frames, and therefore be missed completely.
Capture only when motion detected
This is the first mode available for the Cerberus Motion Detection Technology (CMDT !).
Each web cam that is active only saves an image (to the default location above) when motion is detected by that webcam.
Use Motion Detection to trigger other modes
This is the second mode available for the Cerberus Motion Detection Technology (CMDT !).
Firstly active Motion Detection mode using the button. Then set either the 'Web Mode' or 'Time Lapse' buttons to waiting (). Once any of the open Webcams detect motion the 'waiting' modes will be activated (). No amount of motion or inactivity will change the states of these modes after they have been activated. To stop Motion Detection mode, press the Motion button again.
Rotate
Rotate Speed
Interval between webcam rotation. From 5 seconds to 2 minutes, in 5 second increments.
Available Webcams
This is a list of Webcams that will be played.
Webcams in Rotation List
This is a list of the webcams that will be cycled through.
Use this list to customise the views that webcams that will be cycled through in Rotate mode.
Security
Require Login (default is no)
If this option is ticked the Cerberus will prompt the user for a password and username before allowing access to the application.
Encrypt settings
Tick this option to encrypt all usernames and passwords in the settings file. This option does not effect the username and password that are required to login to Cerberus, these details are always encrypted.
Startup Options
These options allow you to automate the image capturing process. Three functions can be automatically enabled upon the execution of Cerberus. The funtions only activate if there are opened cameras, those that have been set to 'Default'.
Use startup options only when Cerberus is started with "/startup"
If this item is ticked then the selected functions (below) will only start if the application was started with the /startup switch. "Cerberus.exe /startup". If this item isn't ticked then these functions will activate as soon as Cerberus is executed.
Activate web mode
Activates the capture images to web mode.
Activate offline mode
Activates the offline image capture mode.
Activate motion detection
Activates the motion detection mode using the default settings for each webcam.
Telnet Server (see here for more details)
Active Telnet Server
Allow connections to Cerberus via Telnet. Default is off.
Username
Telnet username. Default is cerberus.
Password
Telnet password. Default is julie.
Port
Telnet port. Default is 23.
Timer
* The Timer cannot be used with Motion Detection.
The timer has two available modes.
Specific Time
Cerberus will enable and disable Web Upload and Time Lapse modes (if active) at specific times of the day. This will happen every day while the application is open. When the timer is ON the Web Upload and Time Lapse mode buttons will go straight from off () to waiting (), they will not go to on () until the correct time is reached.
Specific Date
Cerberus will enable and disable Web Upload and Time Lapse modes (if active) at specific times of specific dates. With this mode Cerberus will only come on once and then close, no matter how long the application is active. When the timer is ON the Web Upload and Time Lapse mode buttons will go straight from off () to waiting (), they will not go to on () until the correct time and date is reached.
Webcam Control
Active Titlebar Colour
The colour used for the currently active Webcam display window.
Inactive Titlebar Colour
The colour used for any currently inactive Webcam display window.
Default monitor size
Set the default sized image to be displayed in a Webcam Monitor control.
